Good questions. Clear answers.
Which files can I upload?
STL and standard mesh 3MF files can be quoted automatically, up to 15 MB and 250,000 triangles. We accept STEP/STP, PDF, PNG and JPEG through our enquiry forms. Export other CAD files to STEP. Unsupported 3MF assemblies or extensions need manual review.
How accurate are the dimensions?
Confirm the displayed X/Y/Z dimensions before ordering. STL is interpreted in millimetres; 3MF declared units are converted to millimetres. Printed dimensions vary with material, orientation and geometry. Discuss tight fits and critical tolerances with us before ordering; no universal tolerance is guaranteed.
Will my part have layer lines?
Yes. FDM printing leaves visible layers and can leave support marks. Fine quality improves detail but does not produce an injection-moulded finish. We choose a suitable manufacturing orientation. Colour can vary between batches and from your screen.
How long does it take?
Standard production is estimated at 2–3 working days after production approval. Delivery is additional. Complex parts or larger runs may take longer. Priority Production is available by request and requires confirmation; we do not automatically promise 24-hour production.
How does delivery work?
Printed and dispatched from the UK. Standard production is estimated at 2–3 working days after approval. Royal Mail Tracked 48 aims to deliver in 2–3 working days after dispatch; this is not guaranteed and some postcode areas take longer. UK tracked delivery is £4.50, free on a qualifying parts subtotal of £50 or more. Oversize/heavy jobs may require a separate delivery quotation. Free collection is available by arrangement. Northern Ireland is included; Channel Islands and Isle of Man are excluded from normal checkout.
Can you recreate a broken or obsolete part?
Yes. Send photos, a drawing, dimensions or an existing CAD model through Design My Part. We accept reverse engineering, replacement components and modifications. We may need the physical original or additional measurements.
Can I order more than ten?
Absolutely. Use Volume Production for quantities above ten. We review larger orders to plan manufacture and offer appropriate unit pricing.
Does payment mean you immediately print my file?
Every order receives a manual manufacturability review. Payment does not start printing automatically. If we cannot manufacture as ordered, we will discuss an alternative or refund before production.
Can you make safety-critical parts?
Discuss safety-critical, load-bearing, medical, food-contact, electrical or vehicle applications with us first. An instant quotation does not certify fitness for such uses. Customer designs and intended applications need appropriate engineering assessment.
Can I choose finishing or another material?
Support removal, sanding, finishing, drilling, tapping, threaded inserts and assembly are available by quotation. Other materials and colours can also be requested.
Are my files private?
Yes. Customer files are stored privately. Customer access is linked to their browser session, and authorised operators can retrieve files to review and fulfil requests. Files are not published in a public gallery.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Contact us promptly before production. Custom-made goods may be exempt from change-of-mind cancellation rights, but rights relating to faulty, misdescribed or otherwise non-conforming goods still apply. See our Terms & Conditions for cancellation and return arrangements.
